M.Sc. - Nursing

Dr. M V Shetty College of Nursing started offering master degree in nursing since 1992. The programme prepares nurses for leadership positions in Nursing as specialist nurse practitioners, consultants, educators, administrators and investigators in wide variety of professional setting in meeting the changing needs of the society.

About Course

The program prepares nursing graduates to be professionally equipped, creative, self-directed and socially motivated to effectively deal with day-to-day problems within the existing constraints and act as an agent of social change.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:

A candidate seeking admission to the M.Sc. Nursing course should have:

  • Passed B.Sc. Nursing (Basic) or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing or Post Certificate B.Sc. Nursing of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka (RGUHS), or any other University accepted as equivalent by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka, and must have obtained a minimum of not less than 55% aggregate marks. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe, the aggregate marks obtained be not less than 50% instead of 55% as above.
  • Minimum of one year of experience after obtaining B.Sc. Nursing(Basic) or minimum of one year of work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree or Post Certificate B.Sc. Nursing, in a hospital or in Nursing educational Institution which is recognised by Indian Nursing Council. The Proposed work experience certificate should be considered only from the date of registration Certificate issued from concerned State Nursing Council.
  • Shall have registered in any State Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife.
  • Candidate shall be medically fit.

Criteria For selection:

The selection of the candidates would be based on the merit of the Entrance examination held by University or competent authority.

  • Provisional Pass Certificate or Degree certificate issued by the University.
  • Course completion certificate issued by the college.
  • Transfer certificate issued by the college.
  • Character/conduct certificate issued by the College last studied.
  • Experience Certificate (One Year).
  • Migration certificate issued by the University/Board other than Karnataka State.
  • Eligibility Certificate from RGUHS Bangalore other than Karnataka State.
  • Physical fitness/Medical certificate.
  • Passport size photograph 10 Nos.
  • For students from Nepal: Provisional Pass Certificate or Degree certificate issued by the University/Board Nepalese citizenship certificate and date of birth in Indian Almanac (A.D.) and Equivalence certificate
